In the run-up to Refugee Week we are excited to announce a new musical play from ‘Theatre in the Quarter’ a Chester-based theatre company producing new works of musical theatre with collaboration between professional artists and local communities. ‘Wings of the Sky’ involves a cast of young people from different backgrounds, a Ukrainian opera singer, and an Iranian percussionist all living locally.
The production, written by Richard Wiseman and composed by Matt Baker, tells the story of a group of people who work the fields in order to eat and survive. Tensions rise as another group arrive in the valley seeking a place to live.
The story has been inspired by the ideas and experiences of young people, some of whom are facing the challenges of seeking asylum.
Wings of the Sky will be staged at Chester Cathedral on 12th June at 7pm and again at 8.30pm. Tickets available here.
This promises to be an amazing production….don’t miss it!
