Congratulations to Chester Cathedral who received a Cathedral of Sanctuary Award on 1st October 2023. The Cathedral is one of only four in the UK to have received the award.

The presentation recognises the work and ethos of the cathedral in providing a welcome to those seeking sanctuary in the city. Amongst its continuing work is initiating and chairing a forum of groups involved with those seeking sanctuary and appointing Dennis Thomas, volunteer Verger, as Cathedral ‘Ambassador for Refugees and Asylum Seekers’.

We are delighted for the Cathedral and look forward to a continuing close partnership in the future.
