Lawland is a young Kurdish boy who is profoundly deaf and unable to communicate. Leaving his country and spending a year in a refugee camp, he eventually arrives in Derby where he starts at the Royal School for the Deaf. The film, made over 4 years, follows his progress at the school and what happens when he and his family are faced with deportation.
